Bumpdate || Twenty-Eight

How far along: 28 weeks - HELLO third trimester!

Due Date: December 17, 2015

Baby is the size of: An eggplant - inching towards 3 pounds, 15 inches (and mama can feel every little jab)

Symptoms: You guessed it - EXHAUSTION. I know it comes with territory, but I also think waking up so early doesn't help either. My snooze button is getting pressed double time here recently. I actually had a few mornings and an evening of nausea. Ick. I never had morning sickness in the morning, so that was new. And the last few days, I've had pretty bad indigestion. Things are running out of room in there...

Gender: My little babe. Post here.

Name: Harper Elizabeth. Post here.

Movement: Some says she's a wild child, and some days she's just not. Regardless, I feel her mostly at night when I'm relaxing. But normally always after I eat a meal. A few more people have finally felt her little kicks and jabs here recently, which is always fun to see their reaction!

Nursery: SO MUCH PROGRESS! I'm kinda on a nursery roll, and I don't wanna stop! Her crib, glider AND dresser are purchased. Her curtains, ottoman pouf, a couple pillows, a blanket (mostly for me during those wee hours of the night), and I bought two lamps from Hobby Lobby. I'm loving how it's coming together. Now I'm just waiting for Hobby Lobby to out their wall art on sale (cause there's no other way to shop Hobby Lobby) and trying to pick out a changing pad cover to match the sheet (which we're still waiting on, but probably will be for a couple more weeks).

Maternity Clothes: Same spiel. Maternity pants, mixed shirts and dresses. I probably am going to hunt for new jeans because DUH. being pregnant for the first time, you don't know what's going to be comfortable or not. And the jeans I picked out, are well, not.

Sleep: Can't get enough. Not even waking up to potty because I'm sleeping so good.

Best Moment This Week: Making definite nursery progress! I'm so excited about it!!!

Missing Anything: Um, how about talking and not being out of breath? How she's positioned sometimes, makes for really short breaths of air. And with conferences last week, I'm sure my parents were a little concerned about my gasps of air during our meetings...

Cravings/Aversions: Back to nothing again. The complete opposite of the stereotypical ice cream/pickles cravings you read about.

Mood: I've noticed an increase in irritability... Patience is running low these days, and I just get upset easily and can't explain it.

Husband: Very sweet and thoughtful this week. Helped me get in our bathtub, and even made sure I had towel armrests so I could hold my phone. :) Tolerated the chaos of IKEA like a champ. Cooked my dinner for me one night, since I was coming home late. Harper has a great daddy. :)

Looking Forward To: We have our LAST monthly doctor's appointment this coming Monday! We'll be going about every two weeks after that. But I'm excited to hear her little heartbeat again!

Bumpdate || Twenty-Seven

How far along: 27 weeks

Due Date: December 17, 2015

Baby is the size of: A rutabaga - getting close to 15 inches! She can recognize my voice, she's finally taking breaths (of amniotic fluid), and that smart little brain of hers is showing activity!

Symptoms: Exhaustion! I think I walked on Friday on the verge of tears just because I was so tired. After testing last week in school and walking around a lot, my legs and feet were killing me by weeks end. Not too much swelling, just aching. Back seems to be a lot better - just moments of aching.

Gender: My little babe. Post here.

Name: Harper Elizabeth. Post here.

Movement: Most active at night after dinner, but calms down when it's time for bed. Becoming pretty active in the morning. I think she sleeps mostly during the day, but the jabs are more noticeable than before. I've felt her higher than normal, so she must have changed positions for a little bit.

Nursery: After an extremely intense search, I'm going with the crib sheet I originally loved, but didn't want to pay the price for it. I've picked out curtains, a couple prints, and some more decor. I'm going to have Cody build some book shelves for her. And we should be getting the dresser this weekend after saying we would for the last three.

Maternity Clothes: Same as before - maternity pants. Mixing shirts and dresses.

Sleep: Sleeping SO good every night, just not enough it feels like.

Best Moment This Week: In unrelated baby news - Georgia KILLING South Carolina. :)

Missing Anything: Feeling normal. With average tasks becoming more difficult, some days I miss the ease. But I love my bump and my baby girl!

Cravings/Aversions: Muffins! Blueberry in particular. They just seem so delicious. And pizza I could probably eat EVERY day if Cody would let me.

Mood: Happy most of the time, but by the end of the week I seem to get moody from being so tired.

Husband: Being sweet, helpful, and PATIENT. I know I'm a little cray-cray every now and then. Hanging in there like a champ.

Looking Forward To: Um, sleep. :)

What I've Learned About Being Pregnant

I'm reaching the home stretch of this pregnancy.
A week away from month seven and a third trimester mama-to-be.
I'm a little in disbelief...I mean it seems like just yesterday I was reading that little blue and white stick.

But since the day I found out about this little bundle of love, I've learned some pretty interesting things about this whole pregnancy thing. You've heard stories from friends, but there's just some stuff you won't find out until you're experiencing it for yourself. And half the time, you find out stuff that nobody even warned you about because well, they're gross. And most people don't talk about gross things. (You definitely won't read about hemorrhoids on a bumpdate in the blog world...)

So with that being said, I thought I'd mention some of things that took me by surprise and what I've learned about the beautiful, wonderful, exhausting, kinda gross, world of pregnancy.

1. Pregnancy can be gross.

Yep. It can be.
And nobody will tell you about the gross symptoms.
Bloody noses (and boogies), hemorrhoids, swollen feet and ankles kankles, acne like a 13 year old boy, gas like a hot air balloon, extra hair growth (in places you never dreamed of), stretch marks (of course), um, discharge... and the list continues.
Every woman is different, and you may not experience the icky symptoms at all. But chances are, you'll experience one or two before labor.
But you probably won't be writing them on your bumpdate anytime soon!

2. People stare at you.

Like you're a unicorn from Mars.
In my early pregnancy, I felt like people stared at me wondering if I was fat or or pregnant. I always felt like they ended up picking fat because of how I'm carrying (more in my hips than belly). But as of recent, it's very clear that I'm pregnant, but I still get the stares.
No, I'm not 16 years old. Yes, I'm married. Yes, I just look that dang good. (just kidding)
Whatever reason it may be, walking through a restaurant, you're definitely going to be turning a few heads, because well, being pregnant is just plain different. And people stare at the different.

3. Every bump is different.

Ain't that the truth.
Before I got pregnant, I pictured myself with that cute little basketball belly, walking around all cute and confident. But for a long time, I felt like the complete opposite. In my opinion, it took me a long time to get the noticeable pregnancy bump. Depending on what I wore, I had a muffin top on most days. I'm just carrying really low and have grown width wise, instead of out. My hips, butt, thighs have all gotten bigger, where my belly took a little longer to catch up. But I learned that every woman carries different. Every woman has a different shape. And every bump is different. But every bump is still beautiful.
(You're noticeable bump will come eventually, I promise!)

4. Opinions. You're going to hear a lot of them.

Keep them to yourself.
Just kidding. These are all my opinions.
But don't force your opinion on others - especially others with ridiculous, raging hormones. Like me.
Y'all heard me complain a million times over about the opinions with baby names.
Ain't nobody got time for you to list the people you don't like with that name.
I've heard a million, billion birth stories. I've heard a trillion reasons why I should breastfeed or not breastfeed. But at the end of day, your pregnancy and baby is yours and yours only.
You'll have your own story one day, and you really just have to take the opinions with a grain of salt - but not too much because you're pregnant, and you'll swell up like a balloon.

5. Welcome to the "Mommy Club."

And all you had to do was get pregnant to be let in!
It's a whole new world that you had no idea even existed until you announced to the world that you we're growing a little peanut of your own. I can't tell you how many new friends I have, how many maternity clothes have been donated, how many people truly care about how you're doing now. You now have something so special in common with the mommies of the world, and you always will now. Everyone has been so supportive and I'm so appreciative of all of my sweet mommy friends!

6. Pregnancy is a miracle, but some days suck.

It's just part of the journey.
Some days, you're going to be completely over being pregnant.
At least I feel that way sometimes. All I want is to be able to paint my toenails, walk for five minutes without being out of breath, wear my old clothes - it normally ends in a random cry fest (thanks hormones). Pregnancy can be hard! But at the end of the day, there's truly a little miracle growing inside of you. Those sweet little kicks and jabs remind you every time. That little miracle sure makes those tough days a little easier to get through knowing what's at the end of your nine month journey.

Bumpdate || Twenty-Six

How far along: 26 weeks - last week in the 2nd trimester! (what...)

Due Date: December 17, 2015

Baby is the size of: A head of lettuce - about 14 inches.

Symptoms: Pretty bad back pain, but it's in my upper back. Doctor said it's probably due to a change in posture, so the littlest things can agitate the muscles. Just sitting in a chair is pretty uncomfortable... Swollen feet and ankles towards the end of the week if I've stood a lot. Exhaustion creeps in there too around Thursday/Friday.

Gender: A little girl! How did we get so lucky? Post here.

Name: Harper Elizabeth. Post here.

Movement: Holy cow. We have a wild woman on our hands. I never really felt her much when I was standing throughout the day or walking, but this has been a different story. Sometimes I just can't help but laugh out loud, but she's moving so much with no end in sight. I know I'm going to miss those little kicks one day.

Nursery: My sweet husband put together the crib while I was at my gifted class on Tuesday! The dresser should put in soon, and then the big pieces are done. I'll have all the fun decorating left to do! I found a bed sheet that I LOVE. But I don't love the price. But I think I'll end up comparing it to everything else I find now. The struggle.

Maternity Clothes: A sweet friend at work gave me a whole bag of maternity clothes to borrow. I thought it was the sweetest. :) Definite maternity pants. Dresses are a mix. Shirts are a mix.

Sleep: I keep reading about how I'm not going to sleep here soon...So I'm enjoying sleeping like a baby most nights.

Best Moment This Week: We heard little girl's heartbeat this week - 149! I have one more appointment next month before we start going every two weeks. This is getting real.

Missing Anything: Nothing I can't live without at this point.

Cravings/Aversions: Giant blueberry muffins. Yum.

Mood: Excited to meet our little girl. Overwhelmed with work and feeling like I can never catch up. Probably need to start on those maternity leave plans...

Husband: Wonderful! Put together our crib the day it arrived while I was in class. Given me a few back rubs to help with my sore back. And has managed to make it to every doctor's appointment for the last (almost) seven months. I love him.

Looking Forward To: Hopefully making some progress on her nursery. I know the end is sneaking up on us, and I'd like to be prepared in case of an early arrival.
