Throwback Thursday: L+C {Year Two}

So, blogging definitely wasn't on my agenda yesterday.
Or the day before.
After coming home late the last few nights, having Cody come home late all week since it's week one of the new position, squeezing in some exercise and grocery shopping last night - the last thing on my mind was blogging at 9pm.
My pillow and blanket sounded much better.

But tonight, as I'm waiting on Cody to come home, the dogs and I are all snuggled up on the couch with the heater blowing directly on us (oh spring, please come back), I felt like it was the perfect time to whip up a post.

A couple weeks ago, my friend Ashley at A Thousand Words started the Throwback Thursday link-up, which I desperately missed. I was so excited to share some of Cody & mine's pictures from our five years of dating, especially since March is the month we first met, had our first date & became "official." ooohhhahhhhhh.

Now, I'm sure some of you want to gag, throw up, unfollow me, whatever.
I just can't help getting all mushy gushy this month and not to mention, we're inching closer and closer to our wedding day. Holy cow.
So feel free to skip on over this if you wish - or some of you may already have. :)

Que the mush. And the gush.

Easter 2010

The second year of our relationship was by far the hardest.
I was ending my second year of college, living with three roommates that I couldn't stand.
Cody started a new job that was pretty exhausting. I had a part-time job on the weekends.
We had the stupidest fights half the time. Over STUPID stuff.
It was a lot of growing up and maturing through this year.
Somehow, we stuck it out and survived, and it actually made us stronger.

We had some fun times though and some firsts.
[I apparently wore the same tank top all the time...]
We went to our first concert together. Cody's all-time favorite musician - Alan Jackson.
And we went on our first vacation together in the fall - Pigeon Forge, TN.

We tried to spend a lot of time with family, including the holidays.
Holidays were always tricky for us because of Cody's work schedule at the time.
He would either leave right from work to come to a family get-together, or we wouldn't spend family time together at all. It was hard for us to get used to, but it makes us appreciate what we do get to spend together now.

Oh, and did I mention - I got Maci this year!
As much as Cody thought I didn't need a dog, he knows he was wrong now. :)
[He tucks her in at night...]

My little babe at 3 months
He even still loved me when I cut all my hair off! ;)
He actually prefers it short because it didn't "take me as long to get ready"...psh.

January 2011
February 2011
But through all the ups and downs, we made it through.
A lot of lessons learned.
The second year together definitely made us who we are today.

  7. Little trips down memory lane are the best. And, don't you hate fighting over stupid pointless things? You are in the middle of it and then all of a sudden realize how stupid it all is. My husband and I had a good bit of that right after our daughter was born and we were both sleep deprived and terrified new parents, ha. Lovely, right? Glad we moved past that. Oy. Love the deer carved pumpkin too!

  8. Being that you and your husband (esp your husband) love Alan Jackson you MUST read his wife's book when you get time after the wedding chaos. It is a GREAT GREAT book. Here is the link: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/its-all-about-him-denise-jackson/1102562385?ean=9780785227762.

  9. So cute. I love trips down memory lane. I did the same thing and cut my hair off after a year were dating. He said he likes it longer now but I am thinking of cutting it short again. Your fiance is right, it takes a lot less time!
