The Georgia Way

Gameday Eve.
Shouldn't this day be a national holiday?
I'm just saying.

It's finally here y'all.
Football season.
Winter, spring, summer, fall and - football season.
In my opinion, the best season of all.

I can already smell the charcoal burning.
I can see the familiar faces.
I can hear the cheers loud and clear.
Anticipation for the game ahead.
But the comfort of being surrounded by your football family makes you feel right at home.
It's any good southerner's dream.

My life has never been without this season.
And I couldn't imagine it any other way.
My earliest memories are those in Athens, Georgia.
Truly a home away from home.

Be obnoxious. Be proud. You're allowed to this time of year.
Happy Football Season Y'all!

August Goal Results

So technically, August isn't over for a couple more days, but the next three days of August will be consumed with college football, so let's knock this out of the way.

As y'all know, this girl is ready for August to be over.
It has been nothing but a pain in my butt, and I'm ready to start fresh.
Through it all, I think I actually did pretty good on my monthly goals surprisingly.

1. Have a successful first day of school!

I survived. That sounds successful.
It was good. Not great. Like the whole month has been pretty much.
Crossing my fingers it can only get better!

2. Lay my clothes out the night before work.

This is been the best thing for me in the morning!
I've been leaving 30 minutes earlier in the morning due to being prepared.

3. Make my lunches the night before.

Check. See above.

4. Stay organized at school and with lesson planning.

I've been more organized than I ever have been in my classroom.
Almost too organized... I can't find stuff half of the time because I organized it!

5. Seriously get back to eating healthy and exercising during the week.

It's easy to eat healthy...I really don't even have time to eat during the day. Which also means I don't have time to work out. I wake up at 4:30 and I get home at 8. I am so hoping September changes this drastically. Walking at least would relieve so much stress.

6. Continue to save money & spending wisely.

Well, I finally have cut down on the classroom expenses.
There are things every once in awhile I realize I need, but I'm almost back to normal.

7. Communicate with my husband.

August has been the crappiest month for both of us job wise, but the best month of marriage so far. He has been my backbone, my shoulder to cry on, my personal chef, my dog walker, my everything. I'm sure he's tired of all my whining and complaining, but if I didn't get it out to him, we'd be in a world of hurt.

8. Show him love, patience and understanding.

Perfect. See above.

9. Go on a date with my hubby.

We've made sure we've been going out together.
Many of our dates have started at 9pm because I got home late... but we've made it work!

10. Watch Georgia BEAT Clemson in Athens!!!

This is still to be determined, but Cody and I are both so pumped to be in Athens on Saturday and ready to cheer on our Dawgs!

| Our Wedding | Getting Ready

I would do anything to relive the day of June 7, 2014.
It was everything I ever dreamed of and more.
The two years leading up to this day were exciting, eventful, stressful and everything in between. At times I never thought our day would come, but it certainly did - so perfectly.

I remember waking up at my mom's house and feeling so ready.
I rode up to our venue in Cleveland, Georgia with my maid of honor and bridesmaid, as we laughed, giggled and sang old 90's tunes along the way.

We finally arrived and it really sank in that this was all for me today.
So many times I visited our venue after a wedding the previous day, and dreamed of the day that this would be for me. And it finally was.

My bridesmaid, Brittany, was already there, and we immediately started the bridesmaids hair. I remember everything feeling so calm, just us girls talking throughout the getting ready process. I was never once nervous, but felt like I needed to constantly be moving or doing something. I put out all of my getting ready essentials so when our photographer, Katie Rivers, arrived, she had easy access to all the details and dresses.

After enjoying time with my girls, it was finally time for me to get ready. At this point, all I could think of was how fast the morning was going. I had a TON of trouble at my hair trial the month before, so I was a little worried how it was going to go that day. But to my surprise, it turned out better than I dreamed.

Katie finally arrived during all of the hair and makeup doings, and she kept us right on track with our getting ready schedule. She pulled all the little details I wanted pictures of, and did such a beautiful job capturing all of them. Before I knew it, it was time for me to get into the most important dress I would ever wear in my entire life.
As I was getting ready, I had all my girls surrounding me, helping tie me up in the gown. Midway through corseting, the door opened up beside me and in walked the one girl who I hoped and prayed would be there for the last 8 months. As Ashley walked in, she immediately started crying (pregnancy hormones...), which in turn made me tear up. It sank in that she actually made it, not as a bridesmaid like I hoped, but there as one of my best friends.
The whole picture came together so beautifully, as my dream quickly came to life as I looked at myself in the mirror. From the very first time I tried on my wedding dress, I wanted Cody to be blown away when he saw me. My vision of how I wanted to look was perfect. I had never felt more beautiful.
Once all the girls were ready, we made sure Cody was hidden in the barn where he got ready with his groomsmen and ventured out onto the venue grounds to take bridal portraits and bridesmaid pictures.
