How to NOT Handle a Football Loss

So, your beloved team lost?
I feel your pain. I really, really do.

As a diehard fan, I dread these days.
The last thing you want to do is give the other team bragging rights for 365 days.
They can shove it up their you know what if you ask me!
You feel like you've lost your best friend. Your hopes and dreams have been crushed.
You hang your head low for the next seven days.
All you need is the next Saturday to arrive so you can hopefully forget about last week and bask in the glory of a new gameday.
The week after a loss seems to drag on FOREVER.
And it's just heartbreaking.

Watching my Dawgs fall short to South Carolina was exactly that - heartbreaking.
At some point this season (if you haven't already), you'll feel this gut-wrenching pain also.
Most of us do. Unless it's one of those rare miracle seasons that we all dream of.
Must be nice, Florida State.

But even though all you want to do deep down inside is cry, scream and pout, the only way to handle the pain is with grace.

Now, I can't say I'm very "graceful" in this category. I don't think I've ever said so many cuss words in my life during last Saturday's game...
But there's just some things you just shouldn't do.

As much as it pains you, hold back those alligator tears.
Crying in public at a football game, will not only get your pathetic butt on national television, but make you look like a complete and entire freak.
Do it the privacy of your own home...guilty on one account. :)

Although it feels like your world has just ended, don't make rash decisions.
Selling all your favorite team's merchandise won't change the scoreboard, and you'll look like an idiot when you hop back on the fan bandwagon after a win.

You will look like a classless redneck.
Oh hey, South Carolina... ;)

Well, you know what...
Maybe you should. :)

  6. This was such a good post. I'm so sorry you had to type it . . . but it was so true! I was thinking of you Saturday as I watched the game and even said to my husband, oh no Lauren's gonna be so sad! Hope a few drinks and some crying at home made you feel a little better. Wish I could have taken you out for margaritas or something to cheer you up!

  7. Hahaha All so very true.
Fun fact: The girl in the infamous picture of the Alabama guy crying after the LSU loss is my sorority sister. That was the year that we played LSU again for the National Championship in New Orleans. LSU fans had their faces on signs all around the french quarter. They were both down there and every time an LSU fan spotted one of them they would ask them for their autograph. It was hilarious!! It was even better that we beat LSU and won the National Championship! :)
