Weekend Shenanigans: Dawgs on [Rocky] Top

I survived people.
My heart didn't stop beating.
My ears didn't fall off from hearing "Rocky Top" on repeat.
But most importantly, Georgia survived too.
Barely.

---

WARNING: Football talk ahead. If you don't care, skip down for pictures from the weekend. :)

Georgia went into Knoxville heavily favored.
And came out extremely beat up by a strong Tennessee team.
It wasn't a game anybody really expected, but you can't predict injuries.
And that's exactly what crushed Georgia.

Four players, some of our BEST players, were done early.
Some even done for the season.
Unfortunately, our injuries allowed Tennessee a glimmer of hope.
Hope to upset the #6 team in the country.

Cody and I talked about the game on the way home today.
"How did Georgia win that game?" I asked.
We both couldn't really put our finger on it.
Eventually, we came to the conclusion it was luck and possibly, destiny.
(Maybe a little Larry Munson and a hobnailed boot as Andy at Behind the Hedges suggested Saturday evening.)

Tennessee went up on Georgia with roughly three minutes left in the entire game.
Somehow, Aaron Murray drove Georgia down the field with seconds remaining.
After three failed attempts to the endzone, Murray had one last throw to tie the game.
Somehow, with five seconds remaining, it happened.
We tied the game.
Touchdown.

I almost died.
Like my heart wasn't hurting enough with those final minutes.
Now I had to endure it even longer.
But thank God we had another opportunity.

Overtime.
Tennessee got a touchdown.
At least that's what 100,000 Tennessee fans thought.
But instant replay told a different story.
Fumble in the endzone.
Georgia ball.

All we needed was a field goal to win.
And that we did.
34-31
Final.
Dawgs win.

Screaming. Yelling. Jumping up and down.
The dream was still alive.

It made the walk back to the car and the four hour drive home much easier.
Dawgs came out on top.

It's great to be a Georgia Bulldog.

Don't bring your ACC trash to SEC games. You might get beat up by really big men.

I do not know what is in that jar. Thank you.

Five on Friday

It's Friday y'all.
And aren't we all glad?

My kids are breaking down daily these days.
Screaming, crying, pushing chairs over, snapping pencils.
What happened to my sweet little angels?

But through all the tears, I still love each one of them and love being in second grade.
 But I love Friday's more.
So here we go.

One

I LOVE the fact that Cody bought our dogs (including Harry - Whitney's dog) Halloween costumes at Target last night.

This was a rare occurrence folks.
I can't tell you how many times I have went to grab a cute sweater or new toy for Maci, and Cody is the one that takes it out of the cart to hang it back on the shelf.
"She doesn't need it." is normally the response I get.
True.
But I WANT it.

Not tonight, though.
Cody was all about some dog spoiling.

Two

I finally updated my hallway bulletin board at school.
We're suppose to update it once a month.
And well, I updated mine last in August.
Oops.

And for some reason, I thought apples were a good idea in October?
I even have pumpkins!
But I had already started.
Whatever.

Three

While were on the topic of school, today we incorporated some Luke Bryan into Social Studies. Second grade is required to learn the six major rivers in the state of Georgia.
And listening to Luke Bryan's song, "That's My Kind of Night" on repeat in my car, I heard one river in particular that spoke to my little teacher heart.

Flint River.
Now, I about gave Cody a heart attack when he found out I played that song.
He thought I showed the video.
No.
I'd be fired and sued with how inappropriate that would be.
But I did cut out a whopping 20 seconds for the "Flint River" part, minus the lay you down, and love you right part.

My kids went NUTS.
And I promise you, the kids I teach aren't the country music kind.
So, we will definitely be remembering the Flint River in Social Studies.
I won't say that we might have had a mini dance party.

Four
Wedding plans wise, I met with a sweet girl about invitations this week with my planner.
Since I am paying for my invitations, I really don't want to go crazy, but I want them cute and pretty at the same time.
She's going to draw up some ideas and let me know soon.
We, of course, will be working on our Save the Dates first.
We plan on sending them out the day after Thanksgiving.
They're going to be Save the Dates/Christmas Cards.

Here's an invitation inspiration:

Five

Cody and I are leaving tomorrow after school to head to Knoxville.
We decided to stay up there Friday night, so Saturday morning wasn't ridiculously early.
We'll be meeting my dad up there, with a family friend, so we're pretty excited!

Crossing my fingers the Dawgs come out of there with a W.
As little "Rocky Top" as possible, please.
And as many hobnailed boots as possible, please.
{Refer to video for hobnail boot definition. Thankyouverymuch.}

 Sic' em Dawgs!

Wedding Wednesday: Meet the Maids {Brittany}

This week's Wedding Wednesday will focus on another one of my Bridesmaids!

{Brittany}

Brittany and I met the end of sophomore year in college.
Her and her friend needed another roommate, and I was about to stab my eyes out if I had to live with my roomies any longer.

The first week we lived together, hardly knowing each other, Brittany accompanied me to pick up my little babe, Maci.
We drove two hours, at night, to meet a lady I found online with dogs for sale.
She was sweet enough to go incase I got murdered. :)

Brittany had her own sweet babe, Jack.
Jack and Maci quickly became best friends, and still are whenever they get to see each other.

Brittany and I also shared the same major - both majoring in education, with all the same classes.
We relied on each other a lot with homework, studying and projects.

We even survived two psycho roommates over a two year time span! (Not pictured below)

Brittany asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding, and I was truly honored.
It was one of the funnest days of my life, and I'm so lucky to be apart of her big day.
I hope she enjoys my day just as much.

Brittany and her now husband, Will, welcomed their sweet little baby into the world in July.
I definitely consider myself an Aunt, even if I'm not biologically related!

I'm so glad Brittany will be standing by me on my wedding day!

The Month Ahead: October

If you haven't been able to tell just from my lack of creative blogposts, and well, blogposts in general, I was a very busy girl in the month of September.
School has basically taken over my life.
(Just ask Cody. I'm sure he'd love to see me before 6:30 every once in awhile.)
And with today being the first day of October (Can I get a heck yeah!?), the month ahead will be relatively the same. Luckily, my life will consist of more busy plans, just not centered around school as much.
Here's what the month ahead looks like:
FOOTBALL

Georgia at Tennessee 2005
We're kicking off October right!
Cody and I are headed up to Knoxville this weekend for the Georgia vs. Tennessee game.
Coming off that big LSU win, we're hoping the Dawgs show up to play.
Here's to hoping I only hear "Rocky Top" less than 364 times.
I doubt it.
The rest of the month, will be centered around Georgia football.
Missouri in Athens, Vandy in Nashville, & getting ready for GA/FLA at the very end of the month. We probably won't be headed to Nashville, but I can guarantee you, we'll be calling the Dawgs at home.

SCHOOL
With parent/teacher conferences done last week, I'm able to focus on solely teaching.
Which is very nice.

I finally feel like I'm settling into 2nd grade, and we're doing some really quality lessons.

We did this cute little activity to go along with the butterfly life cycle.
The kids loved it, and so will my hallway bulletin board.

And we're working on the frog life cycle this week.

Only nine more weeks until Winter Break by the way.
I'm not counting.
Yes, I am.

FALL FESTIVITIES

Moonshine Festival:
Every October, Cody and I have made the tradition of going to the Moonshine Festival.
Luckily for us, the Moonshine Festival falls on Georgia's off week!
So Cody will be mesmerized by all the cars at the festival car show...

VIA

And I'll be shopping!

 Jaemor Farms:
Yes, I just went to Jaemor this past weekend.
But this time of year, I really can't help but go back.
Cody and I have to pick out our pumpkins, and probably buy some more pickeled okra.
We're addicted.

WEDDING PLANNING

It's getting closer and closer.
I really can't believe it.
October 25th we have our engagement pictures!
Still trying to eat healthy and workout to try and lose some weight.
I probably should have started this 3 months ago.
Oh well.

What are you doing in the month of October?
Happy Fall Y'all!
