A Place That Will Get In Your Blood & Stay Forever
This weekend, Cody and I headed back to Athens for another season of Georgia football. We've become regular Athens visitors over the last few months, since we've moved a lot closer and do a lot of our shopping, eating out, and baby doctor visits around the area. But there's just something more special about my favorite southern city once September rolls around.
I've been spending my fall Saturdays in Athens for quite some time now - regularly for the last thirteen years, but on and off for my entire life, thanks to a Georgia obsessed dad. But even after so many years of chilly fall mornings, tailgates, and football games, I somehow grow to love the town, the school, the campus, and the football team just a little bit more each time. It's a forever growing kind of love.
This year has started off a little different than the rest.
This year I'm tailgating for two.
It was a little weird being back for another season with a pregnant belly in tow. But walking through downtown, on campus and eventually standing in the stadium, I couldn't help but wonder what next season will be like with a 9 month old. I thought about how much I loved everything about gameday. And I just kept thinking about all the memories and traditions I want to share with her. This place has been a huge part of my life, and I've grown to love and appreciate it so much more the older I've gotten.
As I stood in front of the infamous arches, I couldn't help but hope and dream that Harper loves this place as much as I do. I hope she can look back one day and think back on the fall Saturdays, and cherish the memories she's shared with her real family, and her football family. I hope that Athens is a place that gets in her blood, and stays forever.
you look absolutely stunning!!!

ReplyDeleteSuch sweet sentiments. I am sure little one will have great memories of growing up tailgating with her family as a kid.

ReplyDeleteI would give ANYTHING to live near Athens! Best 4 years of my life! Cannot wait to see my little girl in a UGA outfit next fall!
